Professor Palermo discussed his book, In His Own Right: The Political Odyssey of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, published by Columbia University Press. The book merges the public life of Robert Kennedy from 1965 to 1968 with the social movements of the 1960s. During that period, Robert Kennedy was a Democratic senator from New York and a presidential candidate until his assassination. Professor Palermo suggested Robert Kennedy was central to the period of social and political change. He specifically discussed political struggles within the Democratic Party, the Vietnam War, and the 1968 campaign and political convention. He took questions at the end of the program from the audience.
